Why Did I Choose Manawa?
Manawa is, and always will be, my hometown. I was raised in Manawa. My parents, Clifford (deceased) and Elaine Zuge, are lifetime residents of this community. My mother was a teacher in the district for many years. It was the dedicated and talented teachers of the School District of Manawa that provided me with a wonderful education and nurtured my love of learning. It is for these reasons that I chose to return home in 2014 to give back to the loving community that got me off to such a positive start in life.
Manawa is a beautiful community willing to innovate yet maintains a strong sense of pride in its history and respect for its unique past. I proudly serve as the District Administrator of the School District of Manawa. In this district, I work in partnership with a strong community dedicated to preparing students for the exciting future that lies ahead --- personally and professionally. The district focuses on best practices in education, fiscal responsibility and the relentless pursuit of high achievement for all students.
My husband, David, is also a Little Wolf High School graduate. We have one daughter, Jennifer, who is a senior at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
About the District Administrator
I began my education career, in the School District of Manawa as a fourth grade and second grade teacher. Prior to rejoining the Manawa team, I served as an elementary and middle school principal in Ripon and later became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Ripon. I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education with an emphasis in English from U.W. – Stevens Point. I received my master’s degree and doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from U.W. – Madison. Currently, I hold Wisconsin licenses as a teacher, principal, director of instruction, director of special education & pupil services, and district administrator.
I have always loved learning. From my earliest recollections, I have been involved in schools. Visiting the small rural schools that dotted the countryside around Manawa with my mother to serving as a Sunday School teacher at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, education has been a way of life for me. I am inspired by and committed to ensuring that people of all ages have rich and varied opportunities to learn and grow. In addition to teaching young people, I have been fortunate to instruct graduate-level university courses and support new administrators through their leadership practicums.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love reading, biking, traveling, swimming, and boating.
