Dear School District of Manawa Families and Community,
We want to inform you of a recent increase in student and staff illnesses, within the School District of Manawa. At this time, illness has impacted nearly 20% of students at Manawa Elementary; symptoms include: fever, headaches, sore throats, and muscle aches.. To help minimize the spread of illness and ensure the health and safety of everyone in our district, we ask for your cooperation in following the best practices listed below:
Best Practices to Prevent the Spread of Illness:
Stay Home When Sick: If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home to rest and recover. With a fever greater than 100.4℉, students should stay home from school and may return when fever-free for 24 hours (without use of fever reducing medicine). If symptoms are significant or worsen, consider contacting a healthcare provider.
Wash Hands Frequently: Regular handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness.
Cover Coughs and Sneezes: Use a tissue or the inside of your elbow to cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of tissues immediately and wash hands afterward.
Disinfect Common Areas: Wipe down frequently-touched surfaces and other shared items, with disinfectant wipes throughout the day.
Ensure Proper Rest and Hydration: Getting enough rest and staying hydrated are important steps in staying healthy and recovering quickly.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us create a safe and healthy learning environment. Please continue to monitor your health and report any illness to the school as needed. Let’s work together to prevent the further spread of illness in our community.
Thank you for your attention and support.
Sincerely,
Ryan Peterson
