Ski and Snowboarding Club
Welcome to the Manawa Middle and High School Ski and Snowboard Club! This year, our club has planned four exciting trips to Nordic Mountain, located in Mt. Morris, Wisconsin. All skiing and snowboarding trips will take place on Sunday evenings, which means these trips will not conflict with any of Manawa's winter sports schedules.
Bus transportation will be available only if at least 15 middle and high school students register for the club. Once this minimum of 15 participants has been reached, I will send home detailed information about bus transportation arrangements.

Lessons:
Nordic Mountain will provide guided Terrain-Based Learning (TBL) lessons to every group participant interested.
Nordic’s Terrain-Based Learning system consists of 5 different “features” built out of snow. These features are designed to help students learn in a progressive and safe way. They will staff these learning features for every group at no cost. These features and instructors will be available to every group participant from roughly 4:30-7:00. If you have questions pertaining to the TBL lesson, you can contact snowschool@nordicmountain.com
The lessons will help students to be more confident and safe skiers and snowboarders.
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO STOP UNDER CONTROL!
Nordic Mountain’s Code for Safety:
1. Stay in control
People ahead of you have the right of way
Stop on the sides of the runs
Look uphill and yield to others
Used devices to prevent runaway equipment
Observe all signs and warnings
Know how to use a lift
Helmets are MANDATORY!
Nordic has also added a Beyond the Basics lesson package for $20. They will run these lessons on our third and fourth trips. Week 3 will introduce some freestyle fundamentals, and week 4 will take them up the chair to conquer all the slopes.
Expectations: At all times, whether it is at the ski mountain or in the food area, students are expected to display respectable, responsible, and safe behavior. Remember, it is a privilege, not a right, to ski and snowboard with our Ski and Snowboard Club.
